Study Advisors
1. General Information
Academic Study Advisors are members of the University’s teaching staff (Faculty or DEP in Greek) who volunteer their experience in education and career matters. Academic Study Advisors provide guidance to postgraduate students to develop and achieve meaningful educational, professional and personal goals.
2. The Role of the Academic Study Advisor
The ASA mediates in the following ways:
- He or She supports students’ most effective transition to the second cycle of Higher Education (i.e. to the Master’s degree).
- He or She informs students about the general operation of the specific Postgraduate Programme, the operation of the Postgraduate Programme Study Guide, the infrastructure offered, the laboratory structures and students’ possibility to participate in laboratory activities and research projects that are being developed in the Department of Cultural Technology and Communication
- He or She informs students about the services that the University of the Aegean offers to its students to support their studies.
- He or She encourages both students’ participation in assignments, seminars and tutorials to support their progress in their courses in the best possible way and their systematic cooperation with the instructors both within the context of teaching and research activities and within the preparation and writing of assignments.
- He or She monitors students’ academic progress during the mentoring period. To ensure the smooth completion of the Postgraduate Programme, he or she provides support to students if/when problems may arise in individual courses, which may become a stumbling block to (which may hinder) the smooth progress of their studies.
- He or She provides support for the formulation of students’ individual planning regarding both the continuation of their studies at a Ph.D. (doctoral) level and their professional development, based on their interests; he or she also informs them about the next cycle of studies of the Department of Cultural Technology an Communication (i.e. Postgraduate Programme) and the professional opportunities they may have as graduates of the specific Postgraduate Programme.
