Introduction to the PGP

The Postgraduate Program in “Cultural Informatics and Communication” is ready to admit students for the next academic year.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Postgraduate Programme addresses holders of a first-cycle degree (i.e. a Bachelor’s degree) from a Greek university (university or technical institute) or from a recognized institution in Greece. Moreover, graduates from the Higher Military Educational Institutions (ASEI in Greek), the Hellenic Police Officers’ School, the Firefighters’ School of the Fire Academy and the Coast Guard – Hellenic Coast Guard Cadet School are also admitted.

The Postgraduate Programme lasts three (3) semesters. The start of classes is scheduled for October 2024 and the completion of the Programme (with the submission and presentation of the dissertation of the Postgraduate Programme) in February 2026.

The Postgraduate Programme utilizes blended learning formats. More specifically, the first two semesters of studies are dedicated to courses that are mostly delivered remotely (up to 80%), in regular pre-arranged meetings via a modern distance learning platform. The remaining part of the Programme is implemented through short-term intensive courses in the headquarters of the Department in Mytilene (Lesvos, Greece).

The third semester is dedicated to the preparation of the Postgraduate Programme thesis/dissertation.

Course attendance and participation in all types of educational activities is mandatory, both in person and in remote meetings, and, in any case, absences cannot exceed 25% of the total hours of distance learning that are provided in the Programme. Participation in live activities is mandatory.

To attend the Postgraduate Programme, tuition fees of €2,800 are payable in installments:

  1. First installment of €1,000 upon registration.
  2. Second installment of €500 by 31/1/2025.
  3. Third installment of €500 by 30/6/2025.
  4. Fourth installment of €800 before the defense of the Dissertation.

According to current legislation, those who meet specific income and academic criteria (Bachelor’s degree grade above 7.5/10) have the opportunity to be exempted from tuition fees. The income criteria are specified in the provisions of Article 86 and Paragraph 2 of Article 418 of Law 4957/2022 “New Horizons in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs): Strengthening the quality, operability and connection of HEIs with society and other provisions” (Government Gazette A 141/21.07.2022 in Greek).

The Postgraduate Programme awards performance scholarships, totaling €3,000 (€1,000 per/a specialization of the Postgraduate Programme) to those postgraduate students who will obtain the highest score per specialization upon graduation from the Postgraduate Programme, during the normal duration of studies, that is, during the first three semesters.
